Sahih Muslim, 5404

Rapporté par Abdullah ibn Umar : Omar ibn al-Khattab trouva un vêtement en soie à vendre au marché ; il l’acheta et l’apporta au Messager d’Allah ﷺ en disant : « Ô Messager d’Allah, prends-le et embellis-toi avec lors des jours de l’Aïd et pour recevoir les délégations. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ répondit : « C’est la tenue de celui qui n’aura aucune part dans l’au-delà. » Omar resta là aussi longtemps qu’Allah le voulut. Ensuite, le Messager d’Allah ﷺ lui envoya un manteau en soie. Omar revint avec ce manteau et dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, tu as dit que c’est la tenue de celui qui n’aura aucune part dans l’au-delà, mais tu me l’as envoyé. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ répondit : « Vends-le et utilise l’argent pour tes besoins. »

Abdullah b. Umar reported:'Umar b. at-Khattab found a silk garment being sold in the market; he purchased it and brought it to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: Allah's Messenger, get it and adorn yourself (by wearing it) on the 'Id (days) and for the delegation. Thereupon, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: That is the dress of one who has no share (in the Hereafter). 'Umar stayed there so long as Allah wished. Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent him a silk cloak. 'Umar came back with that to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: Allah's Messenger. you said that it is the dress of one who has no share in the Hereafter, but then you sent it to me. Thereupon, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: You sell it and meet your need (with its proceeds)
