Sunan Abi Dawud, 2340

Rapporté par Abdullah ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه : Un bédouin est venu voir le Prophète ﷺ et a dit : « J’ai vu la lune. » Al-Hasan a ajouté dans sa version : c’est-à-dire celle du Ramadan. Il demanda : « Attestes-tu qu’il n’y a de dieu qu’Allah ? » Il répondit : « Oui. » Il demanda encore : « Attestes-tu que Muhammad est le Messager d’Allah ? » Il répondit : « Oui. » Et il témoigna avoir vu la lune. Il dit alors : « Bilal, annonce aux gens qu’ils doivent jeûner demain. »

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: A bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: I have sighted the moon. Al-Hasan added in his version: that is, of Ramadan. He asked: Do you testify that there is no god but Allah? He replied: Yes. He again asked: Do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah? He replied: Yes. and he testified that he had sighted the moon. He said: Bilal, announce to the people that they must fast tomorrow
