Sahih al-Bukhari, 2040

Narrated Abu Sa`id:We practiced I`tikaf with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in the middle ten days (of Ramadan). In the morning of the twentieth (of Ramadan) we shifted our baggage, but Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to us and said, "Whoever was in I`tikaf should return to his place of I`tikaf, for I saw (i.e. was informed about the date of) this Night (of Qadr) and saw myself prostrating in mud and water." When I returned to my place the sky was overcast with clouds and it rained. By Him Who sent Muhammad with the Truth, the sky was covered with clouds from the end of that day, and the mosque which was roofed with leafstalks of date palm trees (leaked with rain) and I saw the trace of mud and water over the nose of the Prophet (ﷺ) and its tip

Rapporté par Abu Sa`id : Nous faisions l’I`tikaf avec le Messager d’Allah ﷺ pendant les dix jours du milieu du Ramadan. Le matin du vingtième jour, nous avons déplacé nos affaires, mais le Messager d’Allah ﷺ est venu vers nous et a dit : « Celui qui était en I`tikaf doit retourner à sa place d’I`tikaf, car j’ai vu (c’est-à-dire j’ai été informé de la date de) cette Nuit (du Destin) et je me suis vu en train de me prosterner dans la boue et l’eau. » Quand je suis retourné à ma place, le ciel s’est couvert de nuages et il a plu. Par Celui qui a envoyé Muhammad avec la Vérité, le ciel est resté couvert de nuages jusqu’à la fin de cette journée, et la mosquée, qui était couverte de branches de palmiers, a laissé passer la pluie et j’ai vu de la boue et de l’eau sur le nez du Prophète ﷺ et sur son bout
