Sunan Abi Dawud, 4343

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: When we were around the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he mentioned the period of commotion (fitnah) saying: When you see the people that their covenants have been impaired, (the fulfilling of) the guarantees becomes rare, and they become thus (interwining his fingers). I then got up and said: What should I do at that time, may Allah make me ransom for you? He replied: Keep to your house, control your tongue, accept what you approve, abandon what you disapprove, attend to your own affairs, and leave alone the affairs of the generality

Rapporté par Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As رضي الله عنه : Alors que nous étions autour du Messager d’Allah ﷺ, il a parlé d’une période de troubles (fitnah) en disant : « Quand vous verrez que les engagements des gens sont rompus, que les garanties sont rares, et qu’ils deviennent ainsi », et il a entrelacé ses doigts. Je me suis alors levé et j’ai dit : « Que dois-je faire à ce moment-là, que je sois sacrifié pour toi ? » Il a répondu : « Reste chez toi, maîtrise ta langue, accepte ce que tu approuves, rejette ce que tu désapprouves, occupe-toi de tes propres affaires et laisse celles des autres. »
