The Book of the Commencement of the Prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، - يُعْرَفُ بِابْنِ أَبِي جَمِيلٍ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ وَسُورَتَيْنِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الظُّهْرِ وَصَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ وَيُسْمِعُنَا الآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا وَكَانَ يُطِيلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الأُولَى ‏.‏

Rapporté par Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah : Mon père nous a raconté que le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) récitait la Umm Al-Quran et deux sourates dans les deux premières unités de prière du zuhr et de l’asr. Parfois, il nous faisait entendre un verset, et il allongeait la première unité

Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah said:"My father told us that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite Umm Al-Quran and two surahs in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr and 'Asr, and he would make us hear a verse sometimes, and he used to make the first rak'ah lengthy
