Sunan an-Nasa'i, 3540

Rapporté par Zainab bint Abi Salamah, d’après Umm Salamah : Une femme des Quraish est venue voir le Messager d’Allah ﷺ et a dit : « Le mari de ma fille est décédé, et je m’inquiète pour ses yeux ; elle a besoin de khôl. » Il a dit : « L’une d’entre vous jetait un morceau de fumier après qu’un an soit passé. Maintenant, la période de deuil est de quatre mois et dix jours. » J’ai demandé à Zainab : « Que signifie “après qu’un an soit passé” ? » Elle a répondu : « À l’époque de la Jahiliyyah, si le mari d’une femme mourait, elle allait dans la pire pièce qu’elle avait et y restait, puis, quand un an était passé, elle sortait et jetait un morceau de fumier derrière elle. »

It was narrated from Zainab bint Abi Salamah, from Umm Salamah that a woman from the Quraish came to the Messenger of Allah and said:"My daughter's husband has died, and I am worried about her eyes; she needs kohl." He said: "One of you used to throw a piece of dung after a year had passed. Rather it (the mourning period) is four months and ten days." I (the narrator) said to Zainab: "What does 'after a year had passed' mean?" She said: "During the Jahiliyyah, if a woman's husband died she would go to the worst room she had and stay there, then, when a year had passed, she would come out and throw a piece of dung behind her
