Sunan an-Nasa'i, 2614

Rapporté par ‘Aishah : Elle voulait acheter Barirah et l’affranchir, mais on a exigé que l’allégeance de Barirah (wala’) leur revienne. Elle en a parlé au Messager d’Allah et il a dit : « Achète-la et affranchis-la, car l’allégeance revient à celui qui affranchit l’esclave. » Barirah a eu le choix quand elle a été affranchie. On a apporté de la viande au Messager d’Allah et on a dit : « Ceci a été donné en aumône à Barirah. » Il a dit : « C’est une aumône pour elle et un cadeau pour nous. » Son mari était un homme libre

It was narrated from 'Aishah that:she wanted to buy Barirah and set her free, but they stipulated that her loyally as a freed slave (wala') should be to them. She mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah and he said: "Buy her and set her fee, and loyally is due to the one who frees the slave." She was given the choice when she was freed. Some meat was brought to the Messenger of Allah and it was said: "This is something that is given in charity to Barirah." He said: "It is charity for her and gift for us." And her husband was a free man
