Sunan an-Nasa'i, 2385

Rapporté par 'Amr bin Shurahbil : Un homme parmi les compagnons du Prophète ﷺ a dit : On a dit au Prophète qu'un homme jeûnait toute sa vie. Il a répondu : "J'aurais préféré qu'il n'ait jamais mangé." Ils ont dit : "Les deux tiers de la vie ?" Il a dit : "C'est déjà trop." Puis il a dit : "Voulez-vous que je vous dise ce qui purifie le cœur ? Jeûner trois jours chaque mois." 'Ata a ajouté : "Quelqu'un qui l'a entendu m'a dit qu'Ibn 'Umar a rapporté que le Prophète ﷺ a dit : Celui qui jeûne tous les jours de sa vie, alors il n'a pas vraiment jeûné

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shurahbil that a man from among the Companions of the Prophet said:'It was said to the Prophet that a man fasted for the rest of his life. He said: 'I wish that he had never eaten.' They said: 'Two-thirds (of a lifetime)?' He said: 'That is too much.' Then he said: 'Shall I not tell you of that which will take away impurity from the heart? Fasting three days each month." 'Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted
