The Book of Qiyam Al-Lail (The Night Prayer) and Voluntary Prayers During the Day

أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْحُرِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَهُمْ أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِنْ خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ فَلْيُوتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Rapporté par Ibn Umar : Un homme a demandé au Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) à propos des prières de la nuit, et il a dit : « Deux par deux, puis si l’un d’entre vous craint que l’aube arrive, qu’il fasse le witr avec une rak‘a. »
