Sahih Muslim, 814

Rapporté par Abu al-Khair رضي الله عنه : J’ai vu Ibn Wa’la al-Saba’i porter une fourrure. Je l’ai touchée. Il m’a dit : « Pourquoi la touches-tu ? » J’ai interrogé Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنه en disant : « Nous vivons à l’ouest, avec des Berbères et des Mages. Ils nous apportent des béliers qu’ils abattent, mais nous ne mangeons pas leur viande, et ils viennent avec des peaux remplies de graisse. » Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنه a répondu : « Nous avons interrogé le Messager d’Allah ﷺ à ce sujet et il a dit : “Le tannage la rend pure.” »

Abu al-Khair reported:I saw Ibn Wa'la al-Saba'i wear a fur. I touched it. He said: Why do you touch it? I asked Ibn 'Abbas saying: We are the inhabitants of the western regions, and there (live) with us Berbers and Magians. They bring with them rams and slaughter them, but we do not eat (the meat of the animals) slaughtered by them, and they come with skins full of fat. Upon this Ibn 'Abbas said: We asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about this and he said: Its tanning makes it pure
