Sahih Muslim, 6728

Rapporté par Abou Toufayl : Je suis allé rendre visite à Abou Sariha Hudhayfa b. Usaid al-Ghifari qui m’a dit : « J’ai entendu de mes propres oreilles le Messager d’Allah ﷺ dire : “Le sperme reste dans l’utérus pendant quarante nuits, puis l’ange lui donne forme.” » Zoubayr ajouta : « Je pense qu’il a dit : ‘Celui qui façonne cela décide s’il sera garçon ou fille.’ » Ensuite l’ange demande : « Ses membres seront-ils complets ou non ? » Et le Seigneur les rend complets ou non, selon Sa volonté. Ensuite il dit : « Mon Seigneur, qu’en est-il de sa subsistance, de sa mort et de son caractère ? » Et le Seigneur décide de son malheur ou de son bonheur

Abu Tufail reported:I visited Abu Sariha Hudhaifa b. Usaid al-Ghifari who said: I listened with these two ears of mine Allahs Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The semen stays in the womb for forty nights, then the angel, gives it a shape. Zubair said: I think that he said: One who fashions that and decides whether he would be male or female. Then he (the angel) says: Would his limbs be full or imperfect? And then the Lord makes thein full and perfect or otherwise as He desires. Then he says: My Lord, what about his livelihood, and his death and what about his disposition? And then the Lord decides about his misfortune and fortune
