Sahih Muslim, 5419

Rapporté par Jabir ibn Abdullah : Un jour, le Messager d’Allah ﷺ mit un manteau en brocart qui lui avait été offert. Il l’enleva aussitôt et l’envoya à Omar ibn al-Khattab. On lui demanda : « Ô Messager d’Allah, pourquoi l’as-tu retiré si vite ? » Il répondit : « Gabriel me l’a interdit (c’est-à-dire de porter ce vêtement). » Omar vint alors en pleurant et dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, tu as désapprouvé une chose, mais tu me l’as donnée. Qu’en est-il de moi alors ? » Le Prophète ﷺ répondit : « Je ne te l’ai pas donné pour que tu le portes, mais pour que tu puisses le vendre. » Omar le vendit alors pour deux mille dirhams

Jabir b. Abdullah reported that one day Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) put on a cloak made of brocade, which had been presented to him. He then quickly put it off and sent it to 'Umar b. Khattab, and it was said to him:Messenger of Allah. why is it that you put it of immediately. whereupon he said: Gabriel forbade me from it (i. e. wearing of Ods garment), and 'Umar came to him weeping and said: Messenger of Allah you disapproved a thing but you gave it to me. What about me, then? Thereupon be (the Holy Prophet) Wd: I did not give it to you to wear it, but I gave you that you might sell it; and so he (Hadrat Umar) sold it for two thousand dirhams
