Sahih Muslim, 2156

Rapporté par ‘Amra, fille de ‘Abd al-Rahman : Elle a entendu ‘Aïcha à qui elle a parlé de la parole d’Abdullah b. ‘Umar : « Le défunt est puni à cause des lamentations des vivants. » ‘Aïcha répondit : « Qu’Allah fasse miséricorde au père d’Abd al-Rahman (Ibn ‘Umar). Il n’a pas menti, mais il a oublié ou s’est trompé. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ est passé devant une Juive morte sur laquelle on se lamentait. Il a dit : “Ils pleurent sur elle alors qu’elle est punie dans la tombe.” »

Amra daughter of 'Abd al Rahman narrated that she heard (from) 'A'isha and made a mention to her about 'Abdullah b. 'Umar as saying:The dead is punished because of the lamentation of the living. Upon this 'A'isha said: May Allah have mercy upon the father of 'Abd al-Rahman (Ibn 'Umar). He did not tell a lie, but he forgot or made a mistake. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) happened to pass by a (dead) Jewess who was being lamented. Upon this he said: They weep over her and she is being punished in the grave
