Sahih Muslim, 1633

Rapporté par Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنه : Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a regroupé la prière du midi avec celle de l’après-midi, et la prière du coucher du soleil avec celle du soir à Médine, sans qu’il y ait de danger ni de pluie. Dans le hadith transmis par Waki', il est dit : « J’ai demandé à Ibn 'Abbas : Qu’est-ce qui l’a poussé à faire cela ? Il a répondu : Pour éviter à sa communauté toute difficulté inutile. » Et dans le hadith transmis par Mu’awiya : « On a demandé à Ibn 'Abbas : Pourquoi a-t-il fait cela ? Il a répondu : Il voulait éviter à sa communauté toute difficulté inutile. »

Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) combined the noon prayer with the afternoon prayer and the sunset prayer with the 'Isha' prayer in Medina without being in a state of danger or rainfall. And in the hadith transmitted by Waki' (the words are):" I said to Ibn 'Abbas: What prompted him to do that? He said: So that his (Prophet's) Ummah should not be put to (unnecessary) hardship." And in the hadith transmitted by Mu'awiya (the words are):" It was said to Ibn 'Abbas: What did he intend thereby? He said he wanted that his Ummah should not be put to unnecessary hardship
