Sunan Ibn Majah, 4008

Rapporté par Abu Sa’eed : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a dit : « Aucun de vous ne doit se sous-estimer. » Ils ont demandé : « Ô Messager d’Allah, comment l’un de nous pourrait-il se sous-estimer ? » Il a répondu : « S’il voit quelque chose à propos de laquelle il devrait parler pour Allah, mais qu’il ne dit rien. Le Jour de la Résurrection, Allah lui demandera : “Qu’est-ce qui t’a empêché de parler à propos de telle ou telle chose ?” Il répondra : “La peur des gens.” (Allah) dira : “Tu aurais dû Me craindre, Moi.” »

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:“No one of you should belittle himself.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, how could anyone of us belittle himself?” He said: “If he sees something concerning which he should speak out for the sake of Allah but does not say anything. Allah will say to him on the Day of Resurrection: “What prevented you from speaking concerning such and such?” He will say: “Fear of the people.” (Allah) will say: “Rather you should have feared Me.”
