Sunan Ibn Majah, 3801

Rapporté par ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) leur a dit : « Un serviteur d’Allah a dit : “Ya Rabb ! Lakal-hamdu kama yanbaghi li-jalali wajhika wa li ‘azimi sultanika (Ô Seigneur, à Toi la louange comme il convient à la grandeur de Ton Visage et à la grandeur de Ta puissance).” Les anges étaient perplexes et ne savaient pas comment l’écrire, alors ils sont montés au ciel et ont dit : “Ô notre Seigneur, Ton serviteur a prononcé une parole que nous ne savons pas comment inscrire.” Allah a dit – et Il sait mieux ce que Son serviteur a dit – : “Qu’a dit Mon serviteur ?” Ils ont répondu : “Ô Seigneur, il a dit : ‘Ya Rabb ! Lakal-hamdu kama yanbaghi li-jalali wajhika wa li ‘azimi sultanika.’” Allah leur a dit : “Écrivez-la comme Mon serviteur l’a dite, jusqu’à ce qu’il Me rencontre et Je le récompenserai pour cela.” »

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that :the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) told them: "One of the slaves of Allah said: 'Ya Rabb! Lakal-hamdu kama yanbagi li-jalali Wajhika wa li 'azima sultanika (O Lord, to You is praise as befits the Glory of Your Face and the greatness of Your Might.)' The angels were uncertain and did not know how to write this down, so they ascended to heaven and said: 'O our Lord, Your slave has said a word that we do not know how to write down.' Allah said - and He knows best what His slave said - 'What did My slave say?' They said: 'O Lord, he said "Ya Rabb! Lakal-hamdu kama yanbagi li-jalali Wajhika wa li'azima sultanika (O Lord, to You is praise as befits the Glory of Your Face and the greatness of your Might).'" Allah said to them: 'Write it down as My slave said it, until he meets Me and I shall reward him for it
