Sunan Ibn Majah, 1741

Rapporté par Abu Mujibah Al-Bahili, dont le père ou l’oncle paternel a dit : « Je suis venu voir le Prophète (ﷺ) et j’ai dit : ‘Ô Prophète d’Allah, je suis l’homme qui est venu te voir l’année dernière.’ Il a dit : ‘Pourquoi je te vois si maigre (et faible) ?’ J’ai répondu : ‘Ô Messager d’Allah ! Je ne mange pas pendant la journée ; je ne mange que la nuit.’ Il a dit : ‘Qui t’a commandé de te faire du mal ainsi ?’ J’ai dit : ‘Ô Messager d’Allah ! Je suis assez fort.’ Il a dit : ‘Jeûne le mois de la patience* et un jour après.’ J’ai dit : ‘Je suis assez fort (pour faire plus).’ Il a dit : ‘Jeûne le mois de la patience et deux jours après.’ J’ai dit : ‘Je suis assez fort (pour faire plus).’ Il a dit : ‘Jeûne le mois de la patience et trois jours après, et jeûne aussi pendant les mois sacrés.’ »

It was narrated from Abu Mujibah Al-Bahili that his father or, his paternal uncle, said:“I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Prophet of Allah, I am the man who came to you last year.’ He said: ‘Why do I see your body so thin (and weak)?’ He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! I do not eat during the day; I only eat at night.’ He said: ‘Who commanded you to punish yourself?’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! I am strong enough.’ He said: ‘Fast the month of patience* and one day after it.’ I said: ‘I am strong enough (to do more).’ He said: ‘Fast the month of patience and two days after it.’ I said: ‘I am strong enough (to do more).’ He said: ‘Fast the month of patience and three days after it, and fast the sacred months.’”
