Sunan Ibn Majah, 1402

Rapporté par Anas bin Malik : Alors que nous étions assis dans la mosquée, un homme est entré à dos de chameau ; il a fait agenouiller son chameau dans la mosquée, l’a attaché et a demandé : « Lequel d’entre vous est Muhammad ? » Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) était allongé parmi eux, alors ils ont répondu : « C’est cet homme à la peau claire qui est allongé. » L’homme lui a dit : « Ô fils d’Abdul-Muttalib ! » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a répondu : « Je t’écoute. » L’homme a dit : « Ô Muhammad ! Je vais te poser des questions et je serai direct, alors ne m’en veux pas. » Il a répondu : « Demande ce que tu veux. » L’homme a dit : « Je t’en conjure par ton Seigneur et le Seigneur de ceux qui t’ont précédé, Allah t’a-t-Il envoyé à toute l’humanité ? » Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a dit : « Par Allah, oui. » Il a dit : « Je t’en conjure par Allah, Allah t’a-t-Il ordonné de prier les cinq prières chaque jour et chaque nuit ? » Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a dit : « Par Allah, oui. » Il a dit : « Je t’en conjure par Allah, Allah t’a-t-Il ordonné de jeûner ce mois chaque année ? » Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a dit : « Par Allah, oui. » Il a dit : « Je t’en conjure par Allah, Allah t’a-t-Il ordonné de prélever cette aumône sur nos riches pour la distribuer à nos pauvres ? » Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a dit : « Par Allah, oui. » L’homme a dit : « Je crois à ce que tu as apporté, et je suis l’envoyé de mon peuple qui m’attend derrière. Je suis Dimam bin Tha’labah, le frère des Banu Sa’d bin Bakr. »

It was narrated from Sharik bin ‘Abdullah bin Abu Namir that he heard Anas bin Malik say:“While we were sitting in the mosque, a man entered riding a camel; he made it kneel in the mosque, then he hobbled it and said to them: ‘Which of you is Muhammad?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was reclining among them, so they said: ‘This fair- skinned man who is reclining.’ The man said to him: ‘O son of ‘Abdul- Muttalib!’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘I am listening to you.’ The man said: O Muhammad! I am asking you and will be stern in asking, so do not bear any ill-feelings towards me.’ He said: ‘Ask whatever you think.’ The man said: ‘I adjure you by your Lord and the Lord of those who came before you, has Allah sent you to all of mankind?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘By Allah, yes.; He said: ‘I adjure you by Allah, has Allah commanded you to pray the five prayers each day and night?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘By Allah, yes.’ He said: ‘I adjure you by Allah, has Allah commanded you to fast this month of each year?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘By Allah, yes.’ He said: ‘I adjure you by Allah, has Allah commanded you to take this charity from our rich and distribute it among our poor?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘By Allah, yes.’ The man said: ‘I believe in what you have brought, and I am the envoy of my people who are behind me. I am Dimam bin Tha’labah, the brother of Banu Sa’d bin Bakr.’”
