Sahih al-Bukhari, 7098

Rapporté par Abu Wail : Quelqu’un a dit à Usama : « Ne veux-tu pas parler à cet homme (`Uthman) ? » Usama a répondu : « Je lui ai parlé (en privé) sans être le premier à ouvrir la porte à un mal. Je ne dirai jamais à un dirigeant, qu’il gouverne deux personnes ou plus, qu’il est bon après avoir entendu le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) dire : Un homme sera amené et jeté en Enfer, et il tournera en rond dans le Feu comme un âne autour d’une meule. Tous les gens de l’Enfer se rassembleront autour de lui et lui diront : “Untel ! N’ordonnais-tu pas aux autres de faire le bien et ne leur interdisais-tu pas le mal ?” Il répondra : “J’ordonnais aux autres de faire le bien, mais je ne le faisais pas moi-même, et j’interdisais le mal, mais je le faisais moi-même.” »

Narrated Abu Wail:Someone said to Usama, "Will you not talk to this (Uthman)?" Usama said, "I talked to him (secretly) without being the first man to open an evil door. I will never tell a ruler who rules over two men or more that he is good after I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, 'A man will be brought and put in Hell (Fire) and he will circumambulate (go around and round) in Hell (Fire) like a donkey of a (flour) grinding mill, and all the people of Hell (Fire) will gather around him and will say to him, O so-and-so! Didn't you use to order others for good and forbid them from evil?' That man will say, 'I used to order others to do good but I myself never used to do it, and I used to forbid others from evil while I myself used to do evil
