Sahih al-Bukhari, 6190

Rapporté par Al-Musaiyab : Son père (Hazn bin Wahb) est allé voir le Prophète (ﷺ) et le Prophète (ﷺ) lui a demandé : « Comment t’appelles-tu ? » Il a répondu : « Je m’appelle Hazn. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Tu es Sahl. » Hazn a répondu : « Je ne veux pas changer le nom que mon père m’a donné. » Ibn Al-Musaiyab a ajouté : Nous avons eu du caractère dur depuis ce jour. Rapporté par Al-Musaiyab : selon son père, de la même manière que ci-dessus

Narrated Al-Musaiyab:That his father (Hazn bin Wahb) went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and the Prophet (ﷺ) asked (him), "What is your name?" He replied, "My name is Hazn." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You are Sahl." Hazn said, "I will not change the name with which my father has named me." Ibn Al-Musaiyab added: We have had roughness (in character) ever since.
