Rapporté par `Aisha (l’épouse du Prophète) : L’épouse de Rifa`a Al-Qurazi est venue voir le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) pendant que j’étais assise, et Abu Bakr était aussi là. Elle a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah ! J’étais la femme de Rifa`a et il m’a divorcée définitivement. Ensuite, j’ai épousé `AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair qui, par Allah, ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ), n’a que quelque chose comme une frange de vêtement », en montrant la frange de son voile. Khalid bin Sa`id, qui se trouvait à la porte car il n’était pas encore entré, a entendu ses paroles et a dit : « Ô Abu Bakr ! Pourquoi ne demandes-tu pas à cette femme d’arrêter de parler ainsi devant le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ? » Non, par Allah, le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) n’a rien fait d’autre que sourire. Puis il a dit à la femme : « Peut-être veux-tu retourner auprès de Rifa`a ? Cela est impossible à moins que `Abdur-Rahman n’ait consommé le mariage avec toi. » Cela est devenu la règle après lui

Narrated `Aisha:(the wife of the Prophet) The wife of Rifa`a Al-Qurazi came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) while I was sitting, and Abu Bakr was also there. She said, 'O Allah's Apostle! I was the wife of Rifa`a and he divorced me irrevocably. Then I married `AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair who, by Allah, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), has only something like a fringe of a garment, Showing the fringe of her veil. Khalid bin Sa`id, who was standing at the door, for he had not been admitted, heard her statement and said, "O Abu Bakr! Why do you not stop this lady from saying such things openly before Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?" No, by Allah, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did nothing but smiled. Then he said to the lady, "Perhaps you want to return to Rifa`a? That is impossible unless `Abdur-Rahman consummates his marriage with you." That became the tradition after him
