Sahih al-Bukhari, 3235

Rapporté par Masruq : J’ai demandé à Aisha رضي الله عنها : « Que dis-tu de cette parole : ‘Puis il (Gabriel) s’approcha et descendit, et il était à deux portées d’arc ou plus près encore’ ? » (53.8-9) Elle a répondu : « C’était Gabriel qui venait voir le Prophète ﷺ sous l’apparence d’un homme, mais cette fois-là, il est venu sous sa véritable forme, si immense qu’il couvrait tout l’horizon. »

Narrated Masruq:I asked Aisha "What about His Statement:-- "Then he (Gabriel) approached And came closer, And was at a distance Of but two bow-lengths Or (even) nearer?" (53.8-9) She replied, "It was Gabriel who used to come to the Prophet (ﷺ) in the figure of a man, but on that occasion, he came in his actual and real figure and (he was so huge) that he covered the whole horizon
