Sahih al-Bukhari, 3115

Rapporté par Jabir bin `Abdullah Al-Ansari : Un homme parmi nous a eu un garçon qu'il a appelé Al-Qasim. À ce sujet, les Ansar lui ont dit : « Nous ne t'appellerons jamais Abu-al-Qasim et nous ne te donnerons jamais ce titre honorifique. » Il alla donc voir le Prophète et lui dit : « Ô Messager d'Allah ﷺ ! J'ai eu un garçon que j'ai nommé Al-Qasim et les Ansar ont dit : “Nous ne t'appellerons jamais Abu-al-Qasim, ni ne te donnerons ce titre.” » Le Prophète ﷺ a dit : « Les Ansar ont bien agi. Donnez mon prénom, mais ne donnez pas ma Kunya, car je suis Qasim. »

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah Al-Ansari:A man amongst us begot a boy whom he named Al-Qasim. On that the Ansar said, (to the man), "We will never call you Abu-al-Qasim and will never please you with this blessed title." So, he went to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I have begotten a boy whom I named Al-Qasim and the Ansar said, 'We will never call you Abu-al-Qasim, nor will we please you with this title.' " The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The Ansar have done well. Name by my name, but do not name by my Kunya, for I am Qasim
