Sahih al-Bukhari, 2047

Rapporté par Abu Huraira : Vous dites que Abu Huraira rapporte beaucoup de récits du Messager d’Allah ﷺ et vous vous demandez aussi pourquoi les émigrés et les Ansar ne rapportent pas autant que lui. Mes frères émigrés étaient occupés au marché alors que moi, je restais avec le Messager d’Allah ﷺ, me contentant de ce qui remplissait mon ventre ; j’étais donc présent quand ils étaient absents et je me souvenais quand ils oubliaient, et mes frères Ansar étaient occupés avec leurs biens et j’étais l’un des pauvres de Suffa. Je me souvenais des récits quand ils oubliaient. Il ne fait aucun doute que le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit un jour : « Celui qui étend son vêtement jusqu’à ce que j’aie fini de parler, puis le ramasse, retiendra tout ce que je vais dire. » J’ai donc étendu mon vêtement coloré que je portais jusqu’à ce que le Messager d’Allah ﷺ ait fini de parler, puis je l’ai ramené contre ma poitrine. Ainsi, je n’ai rien oublié de ces récits

Narrated Abu Huraira:You people say that Abu Huraira tells many narrations from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and you also wonder why the emigrants and Ansar do not narrate from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as Abu Huraira does. My emigrant brothers were busy in the market while I used to stick to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) content with what fills my stomach; so I used to be present when they were absent and I used to remember when they used to forget, and my Ansari brothers used to be busy with their properties and I was one of the poor men of Suffa. I used to remember the narrations when they used to forget. No doubt, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) once said, "Whoever spreads his garment till I have finished my present speech and then gathers it to himself, will remember whatever I will say." So, I spread my colored garment which I was wearing till Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had finished his saying, and then I gathered it to my chest. So, I did not forget any of that narrations
