Sahih al-Bukhari, 1263

Rapporté par Um 'Atiyya : L’une des filles du Prophète (ﷺ) est décédée et il est venu vers nous et a dit : « Lavez-la avec de l’eau et du Sidr un nombre impair de fois, c’est-à-dire trois, cinq ou plus si vous le jugez nécessaire, et à la fin, mettez du camphre ou un peu de camphre sur elle, et quand vous aurez terminé, avertissez-moi. » Quand nous avons fini, nous l’avons informé. Il nous a donné son pagne pour l’envelopper. Nous avons tressé les cheveux (de la défunte) en trois nattes et les avons laissés retomber dans son dos

Narrated Um 'Atiyya:One of the daughters of the Prophet (ﷺ) expired and he came to us and said, "Wash her with Sidr (water) for odd number of times, i.e. three, five or more, if you think it necessary, and in the last, put camphor or (some camphor on her), and when you finish, notify me." So when we finished we informed him. He gave his waist-sheet to us (to shroud her). We entwined the hair (of the deceased girl) in three braids and made them fall at her back
