حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْهُذَلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عُبَادٍ، قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ رضى الله عنه أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ مَسِيرِكَ هَذَا أَعَهْدٌ عَهِدَهُ إِلَيْكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَمْ رَأْىٌ رَأَيْتَهُ فَقَالَ مَا عَهِدَ إِلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِشَىْءٍ وَلَكِنَّهُ رَأْىٌ رَأَيْتُهُ ‏.‏

Rapporté par Qais b. ‘Abbad : J’ai dit à Ali رضي الله عنه : « Parle-moi de cette marche que tu fais. Est-ce un ordre que le Messager d’Allah ﷺ t’a donné, ou est-ce ton propre avis ? » Il a répondu : « Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ ne m’a donné aucun ordre ; c’est mon opinion personnelle. »
