Sunan Abi Dawud, 2646

Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنه a dit : Lorsque le verset « S’il y a vingt d’entre vous patients et endurants, ils vaincront deux cents » a été révélé, cela a été difficile et pénible pour les musulmans, car Allah leur avait prescrit qu’un (musulman combattant) ne devait pas fuir devant dix (non-musulmans combattants). Puis un commandement plus léger a été révélé : « Pour le moment, Allah a allégé votre tâche. » Le narrateur Abu Tawbah a récité le verset jusqu’à « ils vaincront deux cents ». Quand Allah a allégé le nombre, la patience et l’endurance ont aussi diminué en conséquence

Ibn ‘Abbas said “When the verse “If there are twenty amongst you patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred” was revealed. It was heavy and troublesome for Muslims when Allaah prescribed for them that one (fighting Muslim) should not fly from ten (fighting Non-Muslims). Then a light commandment was revealed saying “For the present Allaah hath lightened your (task).” The narrator Abu Tawbah recited the verse to “they will vanquish two hundred.” When Allaah lightened the number, patient and perseverance also decreased according to the number lightened from them.”
