Sunan Abi Dawud, 2516

Rapporté par Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه : Un homme a dit : « Messager d’Allah, un homme veut participer au jihad dans le chemin d’Allah tout en désirant un avantage matériel ? » Le Prophète ﷺ a répondu : « Il n’aura aucune récompense. » Les gens ont trouvé cela grave et ont dit à l’homme : « Retourne voir le Messager d’Allah ﷺ, peut-être n’a-t-il pas bien compris. » Il est donc revenu et a demandé : « Messager d’Allah, un homme veut participer au jihad dans le chemin d’Allah tout en désirant un avantage matériel ? » Il a répondu : « Il n’aura aucune récompense. » Ils ont encore dit à l’homme : « Retourne voir le Messager d’Allah. » Il lui a donc posé la question une troisième fois. Il a répondu : « Il n’aura aucune récompense. »

Narrated AbuHurayrah: A man said: Messenger of Allah, a man wishes to take part in jihad in Allah's path desiring some worldly advantage? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: He will have not reward. The people thought it terrible, and they said to the man: Go back to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), for you might not have made him understand well. He, therefore, (went and again) asked: Messenger of Allah, a man wishes to take part in jihad in Allah's path desiring some worldly advantage? He replied: There is no reward for him. They again said to the man: Return to the Messenger of Allah. He, therefore, said to him third time. He replied: There is no reward for him
