Sunan Abi Dawud, 2284

Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd Al Rahman rapporte d’après Fatimah, fille de Qais رضي الله عنها : Abu ‘Amr ibn Hafs l’a divorcée de façon définitive alors qu’il était absent, et son mandataire lui a envoyé de l’orge. Elle n’a pas apprécié cela. Il lui a dit : « Par Allah, tu n’as aucun droit sur nous. » Elle est alors allée voir le Messager d’Allah ﷺ et lui a raconté cela. Il lui a dit : « Aucune pension n’est due pour toi de sa part. » Il lui a ordonné de passer sa période d’attente dans la maison de Umm Sharik, puis il a dit ensuite : « C’est une femme que mes Compagnons visitent. Passe ta période d’attente dans la maison d’Ibn Umm Maktum, car il est aveugle et tu pourras t’y découvrir. Quand tu seras en situation de te remarier, informe-moi. » Elle dit : « Quand j’ai pu me remarier, je lui ai dit que Mu’awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan et Abu Jahm m’avaient demandée en mariage. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : “Quant à Abu Jahm, il ne pose jamais son bâton de son épaule, et Mu’awiyah est un homme pauvre sans fortune ; épouse Usamah ibn Zayd.” Je ne l’aimais pas, mais il a insisté : “Épouse Usamah ibn Zayd.” Je l’ai donc épousé. Allah lui a accordé beaucoup de bien et j’ai été enviée. »

Abu Salamah bin ‘Abd Al Rahman reported on the authority of Fatimah daughter of Qais Abu ‘Amr bin Hafs divorced her (Fatimah daughter of Qais) absolutely when he was away from home and his agent sent her home barley. She was displeased with it. He said “I swear by Allah, you have no claim on us. She then came to Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) and mentioned that to him. He said to her “No maintenance is due to you from him. He ordered her to spend the waiting period in the house of Umm Sharik but he said afterwards “that is a woman whom my Companions visit. Spend the waiting period in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum for he is blind and you can undress. Then when you are in a position of being remarried, tell me.” She said “When I was in a position to remarry, I mentioned to him that Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan and Abu Jahm had asked me in marriage. The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ)said “As for Abu Jahm, he does not put down his stick from his shoulder, and as for Mu’awiyah he is a poor man who has no property; marry Usamah bin Zaid. I disliked him but he said “Marry Usamah bin Zaid. So, I married him. And Allah prospered him very much and I was envied.”
