Sunan Abi Dawud, 2231

Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنه a dit : « Mughith était un esclave. Il a dit : “Ô Messager d’Allah ﷺ, intercède auprès d’elle (Barirah) pour moi.” Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : “Ô Barirah, crains Allah. Il est ton mari et le père de ton enfant.” Elle a dit : “Ô Messager d’Allah ﷺ, est-ce un ordre de ta part ?” Il répondit : “Non, j’intercède seulement.” Alors des larmes coulaient sur les joues de son mari. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ dit à ‘Abbas : “N’es-tu pas étonné de l’amour de Mughith pour Barirah et de la haine qu’elle a pour lui ?” »

Ibn ‘Abbas said “Mughith was a slave.” He said “Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) make intercession for me to her (Barirah)”. The Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) said “O Barirah fear Allaah. He is your husband and father of your child”. She said “Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) do you command me for that? He said No, I am only interceding. Then tears were falling down on his (her husband’s) cheeks. The Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) said to ‘Abbas “Are you not surprised with the love of Mughith for Barirah and her hatred for him.”
