Sunan Abi Dawud, 2056

Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها a rapporté qu’Umm Habibah a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah ﷺ, veux-tu épouser ma sœur ? » Il a répondu : « Que devrais-je faire ? » Elle a dit : « Tu pourrais l’épouser. » Il a dit : « Ta sœur ? » Elle a répondu : « Oui. » Il a demandé : « Cela te plairait-il ? » Elle a dit : « Je ne suis pas la seule à vouloir partager ce bien avec toi, ma sœur est celle que je préfère. » Il a dit : « Elle ne m’est pas permise. » Elle a dit : « Par Allah, on m’a dit que tu allais demander la main de Durrah. » (Le narrateur Zuhair a douté du nom et a dit : la fille d’Umm Salamah ?) Il a répondu : « La fille d’Umm Salamah ? » Elle a dit : « Oui. » Il a dit : « (C’est ma belle-fille.) Même si elle n’était pas ma belle-fille sous ma protection, elle ne m’aurait pas été permise. C’est ma nièce par allaitement (fille de mon frère de lait). Thuwaibah nous a allaités, moi et son père (Abu Salamah). Donc, ne me proposez pas vos filles ni vos sœurs. »

Umm Salamah reported Umm Habibah said “Are you interested in my sister, Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ)?” He said “What should I do?” She said “You marry her” He said “Your sister?” She said “Yes”. He said “Do you like that?” she said “I am not alone with you of those who share me in this good, my sister is most to my liking. He said “She is not lawful for me.” She said “By Allaah, I was told that you were going to betroth with you Darrah to Durrah , the narrator Zuhair doubted the daughter of Abu Salamah. He said “The daughter of Umm Salamah? She said “Yes”. He said “(She is my step daughter). Even if she had not been my step daughter under my protection, she would not have been lawful for me. She is my foster niece (daughter of my brother by fosterage). Thuwaibah suckled me as well as his father (Abu Salamah). So do not present to me your daughters and your sisters
