Prophethood and Message

The Quran states that Allah sent Noah to his people, instructing him to warn them before a painful punishment came upon them.1,2 Noah told his people to worship Allah, stating that they had no deity other than Him, and expressed fear for them of the punishment of a tremendous Day.3,4 Noah declared to his people that he was not in error but was a messenger from the Lord of the worlds.5,6

Duration and the Flood

The Quran mentions that Noah remained among his people for a thousand years minus fifty years, and then the flood seized them because they were wrongdoers.7,8 The people of Noah were defiant and disobedient, and when they denied the messengers, Allah drowned them and made them a sign for mankind.9,10 Noah called upon his Lord, saying that his son was of his family and that Allah's promise was true, and sought refuge from asking about what he had no knowledge.11,12

Noah's Warning and the Dajjal

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned his nation about the Dajjal, stating that no prophet had failed to warn his people about him, and specifically mentioned that Noah had also warned his people.13,14 In a hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that he would tell about the Dajjal something no prophet had told his nation, specifically that the Dajjal is one-eyed, and Allah is not one-eyed.14,15 On the Day of Resurrection, Noah will be asked if he conveyed the message, and he will reply yes, but his nation will deny it, and Muhammad and his followers will bear witness for him.16,17
