Sunan an-Nasa'i, 939

It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka'b that:The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was by a pond belonging to Banu Ghifar when Jibril, peace be upon him, came to him and said: "Allah commands you to teach your Ummah the Quran with one way of recitation." He said: "I ask my Lord for protection and forgiveness, my Ummah cannot bear that." Then he came to him a second time and said: "Allah commands you to teach your Ummah the Quran with two ways of recitation." He said: ""I ask my Lord for protection and forgiveness, my Ummah cannot bear that." Then he came to him a third time and said: "Allah commands you to teach your Ummah the Quran with three ways of recitation." He said: "I ask my Lord for protection and forgiveness, my Ummah cannot bear that." Then he came to him a fourth time and said: "Allah commands you to teach your Ummah the Quran with seven ways of recitation, and whichever the way they recite it will be correct

Rapporté par Ubayy bin Ka'b : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) était près d’un bassin appartenant aux Banu Ghifar quand Jibril, paix sur lui, est venu à lui et a dit : "Allah t’ordonne d’enseigner à ta communauté le Coran avec une seule manière de récitation." Il a dit : "Je demande à mon Seigneur protection et pardon, ma communauté ne pourra pas le supporter." Puis il est revenu une deuxième fois et a dit : "Allah t’ordonne d’enseigner à ta communauté le Coran avec deux manières de récitation." Il a dit : "Je demande à mon Seigneur protection et pardon, ma communauté ne pourra pas le supporter." Puis il est revenu une troisième fois et a dit : "Allah t’ordonne d’enseigner à ta communauté le Coran avec trois manières de récitation." Il a dit : "Je demande à mon Seigneur protection et pardon, ma communauté ne pourra pas le supporter." Puis il est revenu une quatrième fois et a dit : "Allah t’ordonne d’enseigner à ta communauté le Coran avec sept manières de récitation, et quelle que soit la manière dont ils le récitent, ce sera correct
