Sunan an-Nasa'i, 4353

It was narrated that Jabir said:"The Prophet sent us with Abu 'Ubaidah on a campaign. Our supplies ran out. Then we passed by a whale that had been cast ashore by the sea. We wanted to eat from it, but Abu 'Ubaidah told us not to. Then he said: 'We are the envoys of the Messenger of Allah for the sake of Allah, so eat. So we ate from it for several days. When we came to the messenger of Allah we told him about that and he said: 'If you have anything left of it then send it to us

Rapporté par Jabir : « Le Prophète nous a envoyés avec Abu ‘Ubaidah pour une expédition. Nos provisions se sont épuisées. Ensuite, nous avons trouvé une baleine rejetée par la mer. Nous voulions en manger, mais Abu ‘Ubaidah nous a dit de ne pas le faire. Puis il a dit : ‘Nous sommes les envoyés du Messager d’Allah pour la cause d’Allah, alors mangez.’ Nous en avons mangé pendant plusieurs jours. Quand nous sommes revenus auprès du Messager d’Allah, nous lui avons raconté cela et il a dit : ‘Si vous en avez encore, envoyez-m’en.’ »
