Sunan an-Nasa'i, 3539

It was narrated from Zainab bint Abi Salamah, from her mother, that a woman came to the Prophet and asked him about her daughter whose husband had died and she was ill. He said:"One of you used to mourn for a year, then throw a piece of dung when a year had passed. Rather it (the mourning period) is four months and ten days

Rapporté par Zainab bint Abi Salamah, d’après sa mère : Une femme est venue voir le Prophète ﷺ et l’a interrogé au sujet de sa fille dont le mari était décédé et qui était malade. Il a dit : « L’une d’entre vous portait le deuil pendant un an, puis jetait un morceau de fumier quand l’année était passée. Maintenant, la période de deuil est de quatre mois et dix jours. »
