Sunan an-Nasa'i, 3533

It was narrated from Humaid bin Nafi' that Zainab bint Abi Salamah told him these three Hadiths. Zainab said:"I entered upon Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet, when her father Abu Sufyan bin Harb died. Umm Habibah called for some perfume and put some on a young girl, then she put some on her cheeks. Then she said: 'By Allah, I do not have any need for perfume but I heard the Messenger of Allah say: It is not permissible for any woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for anyone who dies for more than three days, except for a husband, (for whom the mourning period is) four months and ten days

Rapporté par Humaid bin Nafi' : Zainab bint Abi Salamah lui a raconté ces trois hadiths. Zainab a dit : « Je suis entrée chez Umm Habibah, l’épouse du Prophète ﷺ, quand son père Abu Sufyan bin Harb est décédé. Umm Habibah a demandé du parfum et en a mis sur une jeune fille, puis elle en a mis sur ses joues. Ensuite elle a dit : “Par Allah, je n’ai aucun besoin de parfum mais j’ai entendu le Messager d’Allah ﷺ dire : Il n’est pas permis à une femme qui croit en Allah et au Jour dernier de porter le deuil de quelqu’un qui est décédé plus de trois jours, sauf pour son mari, (pour qui la période de deuil est) de quatre mois et dix jours.” »
