Sunan an-Nasa'i, 3359

It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa'd that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah and said:"O Messenger of Allah, I give myself in marriage to you." She stood for a long time, then a man stood up and said: "Marry her to me if you do not want to marry her." The Messenger of Allah said: "Do you have anything?" He said: "I cannot find anything." He said: "Look (for something), even if it is only an iron ring." So he looked but he could not find anything. The Messenger of Allah said to him: "Have you (memorized) anything of the Qur'an?" He said: "Yes, Surah such and such and Surah such and such," naming them. The Messenger of Allah said: "I marry her to you for what you know of the Qur'an

Rapporté par Sahl bin Sa’d : Une femme est venue voir le Messager d’Allah ﷺ et a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, je me donne à toi en mariage. » Elle est restée debout longtemps, puis un homme s’est levé et a dit : « Si tu ne veux pas l’épouser, marie-la-moi. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ lui a demandé : « As-tu quelque chose à offrir ? » Il a répondu : « Je ne trouve rien. » Il a dit : « Cherche, même si ce n’est qu’une bague en fer. » Il a cherché mais n’a rien trouvé. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ lui a demandé : « As-tu mémorisé quelque chose du Coran ? » Il a répondu : « Oui, telle et telle sourate, » en les nommant. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Je te la donne en mariage pour ce que tu connais du Coran. »
