Sunan an-Nasa'i, 2596

It was narrated from 'Ata'bin Yasar that a man from Banu Asad said:"My wife and I stopped at Baqi Al-Gharqad, and my wife said to me: 'Go to the Messenger of Allah and ask him to give us something to eat. ' So I went to the Messenger of Allah and found a man with him asking him (for something), and the Messenger of Allah was saying: 'I do not have anything to give to you.' The man turned away angrily, saying: 'You only give to those you want. 'The Messenger of Allah said: 'He is angry with me because I did not have anything to give him. Whoever asks of you and he has an Uqiyah or its equivalent, then he has been too demanding in asking."' Al-Asadi said: I said: 'Our milch-camel is worth more than an Uqiyah, 'and an Uqiyah is forty Dirhams. "So I went back and did not ask him for anything. Then the Messenger of Allah got some barley and raisins after that, and he gave us a share of them, until Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, made us independent of means

Rapporté par 'Ata' bin Yasar : Un homme des Banu Asad a dit : “Ma femme et moi nous sommes arrêtés à Baqi Al-Gharqad, et ma femme m’a dit : ‘Va voir le Messager d’Allah et demande-lui de nous donner de quoi manger.’ Je suis allé voir le Messager d’Allah et j’ai trouvé un homme avec lui qui lui demandait quelque chose, et le Messager d’Allah disait : ‘Je n’ai rien à te donner.’ L’homme est parti fâché en disant : ‘Tu ne donnes qu’à qui tu veux.’ Le Messager d’Allah a dit : ‘Il est en colère contre moi parce que je n’avais rien à lui donner. Celui qui vous demande alors qu’il a une Uqiyah ou son équivalent, il est trop exigeant.’” Al-Asadi a dit : “Notre chamelle laitière vaut plus qu’une Uqiyah, et une Uqiyah c’est quarante dirhams.” Je suis donc reparti sans rien demander. Plus tard, le Messager d’Allah a reçu de l’orge et des raisins secs, et il nous en a donné une part, jusqu’à ce qu’Allah, le Puissant et Majestueux, nous rende indépendants
