Sunan an-Nasa'i, 2402

It was narrated that Ibn Al-Malih said:"I entered with Zaid upon 'Abdullah bin Amr and he narrated: 'The Messenger of Allah was told about my fasting, so the entered upon me and I gave him an average-sized leather pillow that was stuffed with palm fibvers. He sat in the ground with the pillow between myself and him, and said: "Whill it not be sufficient for you to fast three days each months?" I said: O Messenger of Allah! He said: "O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Eleven." I said: "O Messenger of Allah!" Then the Prophet said: "There is not fast better than the fast of Dawud, half of a lifetime, fasting one day and not next

Rapporté par Ibn Al-Malih : Je suis entré avec Zaid chez 'Abdullah ibn Amr et il a raconté : "Le Messager d'Allah ﷺ a été informé de mon jeûne, alors il est venu chez moi et je lui ai donné un coussin en cuir de taille moyenne rempli de fibres de palmier. Il s'est assis par terre avec le coussin entre lui et moi, et il a dit : « Cela ne te suffit-il pas de jeûner trois jours chaque mois ? » J'ai dit : « Ô Messager d'Allah ! » Il a dit : « Onze. » J'ai dit : « Ô Messager d'Allah ! » Puis le Prophète ﷺ a dit : « Il n'y a pas de jeûne meilleur que le jeûne de Dawud : la moitié de la vie, jeûner un jour et ne pas jeûner le suivant. »
