Sunan an-Nasa'i, 2068

It was narrated that:The Messenger of Allah passed by one of the gardens of Makkah or Al-Madinah and heard the sound of two men being tormented in their graves. The Messenger of Allah said: "They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything that was difficult to avoid." Then he said: "Indeed, one of them used not to take care to avoid getting urine on his body or clothes, and the other used to walk around spreading gossip." They he called for a palm stalk which he broke in two and placed a piece of it on each grave. It was said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, why did you do that?" He said: "May it be reduced for them so long as this does not dry out" or: "until this dries out

Rapporté par Le Messager d’Allah : Il est passé près d’un des jardins de La Mecque ou de Médine et a entendu le bruit de deux hommes tourmentés dans leurs tombes. Le Messager d’Allah a dit : "Ils sont punis, mais pas pour quelque chose de difficile à éviter." Puis il a dit : "L’un d’eux ne faisait pas attention à éviter que de l’urine ne touche son corps ou ses vêtements, et l’autre colportait des rumeurs." Ensuite, il a demandé une branche de palmier qu’il a cassée en deux et a placé un morceau sur chaque tombe. On lui a demandé : "Ô Messager d’Allah, pourquoi as-tu fait cela ?" Il a répondu : "Que leur châtiment soit allégé tant que cela ne sèche pas" ou : "jusqu’à ce que cela sèche
