Sunan an-Nasa'i, 1893

Muhammad bin Sirin said:"Umm 'Atiyyah was a woman from among the Ansar who told us: 'The Prophet entered upon us while we were washing his daughter and said: "Wash her three times, or five, or more than that if you think that (is necessary), with water and lotus leaves, and put camphor, or some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished, inform me." So when we finished we informed him, and he threw his waist-wrap to us and said: "Shroud her in it." And he did not add to that. He (the narrator) said: "I do not know which of his daughters that was." I said: "What did he mean by: 'Shroud her in it?' Did he mean to put it on like an Izar?" He said: "No, I think he meant to wrap her completely

Rapporté par Muhammad bin Sirin : Umm 'Atiyyah, une femme des Ansar, nous a raconté : Le Prophète est entré chez nous pendant que nous lavions sa fille et a dit : « Lavez-la trois fois, ou cinq, ou plus si vous le jugez nécessaire, avec de l’eau et des feuilles de lotus, et mettez du camphre, ou un peu de camphre, la dernière fois. Quand vous aurez terminé, informez-moi. » Quand nous avons fini, nous l’avons informé, il nous a donné son pagne et a dit : « Enveloppez-la dedans. » Il n’a rien ajouté à cela. Le narrateur a dit : « Je ne sais pas de quelle fille il s’agissait. » J’ai demandé : « Que voulait-il dire par : “Enveloppez-la dedans” ? Voulait-il qu’on le mette comme un izar ? » Il a répondu : « Non, je pense qu’il voulait dire de l’envelopper complètement. »
