Sahih Muslim, 748

A'isha reported:A woman asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) how to wash herself after menstruation. She mentioned that he taught her how to take bath and then told her to take a piece of cotton with musk and purify herself. She said: How should I purify myself with that? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Praise be to Allah, purify yourself with it, and covered his face, Sufyan b. 'Uyaina gave a demonstration by covering his face (as the Prophet had done). 'A'isha reported: I dragged her to my side for I had understood what the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) intended and, therefore, said: Apply this cotton with musk to the trace of blood. Ibn 'Umar in his hadith (has mentioned the words of 'A'isha thus): Apply it to the marks of blood

Rapporté par Aïsha رضي الله عنها : Une femme a demandé au Messager d’Allah ﷺ comment se laver après les menstrues. Elle a raconté qu’il lui a expliqué comment prendre le bain, puis lui a dit de prendre un morceau de coton parfumé au musc et de se purifier avec. Elle a demandé : « Comment dois-je me purifier avec cela ? » Le Prophète ﷺ a dit : « Louange à Allah, purifie-toi avec. » et il a couvert son visage. Sufyan b. ‘Uyaina a montré ce geste en se couvrant le visage, comme l’avait fait le Prophète. Aïsha a dit : « Je l’ai tirée vers moi car j’avais compris ce que voulait dire le Messager d’Allah ﷺ, et j’ai dit : “Applique ce coton parfumé là où il y a des traces de sang.” » Ibn ‘Umar rapporte dans son hadith les paroles d’Aïsha ainsi : « Applique-le sur les traces de sang. »
