Sahih Muslim, 653

Ibn Mughaffal reported:The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered killing of the dogs, and then said: What about them, i. e. about other dogs? and then granted concession (to keep) the dog for hunting and the dog for (the security) of the herd, and said: When the dog licks the utensil, wash it seven times, and rub it with earth the eighth time

Rapporté par Ibn Mughaffal : Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a ordonné de tuer les chiens, puis il a dit : « Qu’en est-il des autres chiens ? » Ensuite, il a accordé une permission pour garder le chien de chasse et le chien de troupeau, et il a dit : « Quand un chien lèche un récipient, lavez-le sept fois et frottez-le avec de la terre la huitième fois. »
