Sahih Muslim, 6290

A'isha, the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ), said:The wives of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) sent Fatima, the daughter of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ). She sought permission to get in as he had been lying with me in my mantle. He gave her permission and she said: Allah's Messenger, verily, your wives have sent me to you in order to ask you to observe equity in case of the daughter of Abu Quhafa. She (`A'isha) said: I kept quiet. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to her (Fatima): O daughter, don't you love whom I love? She said: Yes, (I do). Thereupon he said: I love this one. Fatima then stood up as she heard this from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and went to the wives of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and informed them of what she had said to him and what Allah's messenger (ﷺ) had said to her. Thereupon they said to her: We think that you have been of no avail to us. You may again go to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and tell him that his wives seek equity in case of the daughter of Abu Quhafa. Fatima said: By Allah, I will never talk to him about this matter. `A'isha (further) reported: The wives of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) then sent Zainab b. Jahsh, the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ), and she was one who was somewhat equal in rank with me in the eyes of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and I have never seen a woman more advanced in religious piety than Zainab, more God-conscious, more truthful, more alive to the ties of blood, more generous and having more sense of self-sacrifice in practical life and having more charitable disposition and thus more close to God, the Exalted, than her. She, however, lost temper very soon but was soon calm. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) permitted her to enter as she (`A'isha) was along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in her mantle, in the same very state when Fatima had entered. She said: Allah's Messenger, your wives have sent me to you seeking equity in case of the daughter of Abu Quhafa. She then came to me and showed harshness to me and I was seeing the eyes of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) whether he would permit me. Zainab went on until I came to know that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) would not disapprove if I retorted. Then I exchanged hot words until I made her quiet. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) smiled and said: She is the daughter of Abu Bakr

Rapporté par 'Aïcha رضي الله عنها, l’épouse du Messager d’Allah ﷺ : Les épouses du Prophète ﷺ ont envoyé Fatima, la fille du Messager d’Allah ﷺ, auprès de lui. Elle a demandé la permission d’entrer alors qu’il était allongé avec moi sous mon manteau. Il lui a donné la permission et elle a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, tes épouses m’ont envoyée pour te demander d’être juste envers la fille d’Abou Quhafa. » ('Aïcha) dit : Je suis restée silencieuse. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a alors dit à Fatima : « Ma fille, n’aimes-tu pas celle que j’aime ? » Elle a répondu : « Oui, bien sûr. » Il a dit : « J’aime celle-ci. » Fatima s’est alors levée après avoir entendu cela et est allée informer les épouses du Prophète ﷺ de ce qu’elle avait dit et de ce que le Prophète ﷺ lui avait répondu. Elles lui ont dit : « Nous pensons que tu ne nous as pas aidées. Retourne voir le Messager d’Allah ﷺ et dis-lui que ses épouses demandent justice envers la fille d’Abou Quhafa. » Fatima a dit : « Par Allah, je ne lui parlerai plus de ce sujet. » 'Aïcha rapporte encore : Les épouses du Prophète ﷺ ont alors envoyé Zaynab bint Jahsh, l’épouse du Prophète ﷺ, qui était à peu près mon égale aux yeux du Messager d’Allah ﷺ. Je n’ai jamais vu de femme plus pieuse que Zaynab, plus consciente d’Allah, plus véridique, plus attachée aux liens de parenté, plus généreuse, plus altruiste, et plus proche d’Allah, le Très-Haut, qu’elle. Elle se mettait vite en colère, mais se calmait aussi rapidement. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ lui a permis d’entrer alors que j’étais avec lui sous mon manteau, dans la même situation que lors de l’entrée de Fatima. Elle a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, tes épouses m’ont envoyée pour demander justice envers la fille d’Abou Quhafa. » Elle s’est alors montrée dure avec moi, et j’observais les yeux du Messager d’Allah ﷺ pour voir s’il me permettrait de répondre. Zaynab a continué jusqu’à ce que je comprenne que le Prophète ﷺ ne m’en empêcherait pas. J’ai donc répondu vivement jusqu’à ce qu’elle se taise. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a alors souri et a dit : « C’est la fille d’Abou Bakr. »
