Sahih Muslim, 5974

Umm Salama, the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ), said I used to hear from people making a mention of the Cistern, but I did not hear about it from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). One day while a girl was combing me I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say:" O people." I said to that girl: Keep away from me. She said: He (the Holy Prophet) has addressed the men only and he has not invited the attention of the women. I said: I am amongst the people also (and have thus every right to listen to the things pertaining to religion). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I shall be your harbinger on the Cistern; therefore, be cautious lest one of you should come (to me) and may be driven away like a stray camel. I would ask the reasons, and it would be said to me: You don't know what innovations they made after you. And I would then also say: Be away

Rapporté par Umm Salama, l’épouse du Messager d’Allah ﷺ : J’entendais les gens parler du Bassin, mais je n’en avais pas entendu parler par le Messager d’Allah ﷺ. Un jour, alors qu’une jeune fille me coiffait, j’ai entendu le Messager d’Allah ﷺ dire : « Ô gens. » J’ai dit à la jeune fille : « Éloigne-toi de moi. » Elle a dit : « Il s’adresse seulement aux hommes, il n’a pas appelé les femmes. » J’ai répondu : « Je fais aussi partie des gens (et j’ai donc le droit d’écouter ce qui concerne la religion). » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Je serai votre précurseur au Bassin. Faites attention, que personne d’entre vous ne vienne à moi et ne soit repoussé comme un chameau égaré. Je demanderai la raison, et il me sera dit : “Tu ne sais pas quelles innovations ils ont introduites après toi.” Et je dirai alors aussi : “Éloignez-vous.” »
