Sahih Muslim, 5043

Abu Sa'id reported that a person said:Messenger of Allah, we live in a land abounding in lizards, so what do you command or what verdict you give (about eating of it)? Thereupon he said: It was mentioned to me that a people from among Bani Isra'il were distorted (so there is a likelihood that those people might have been distorted in the shape of lizards). So he neither commanded (us to eat that) nor forbade (us). Abu Sa'id said: After some time Umar said: Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, has made it (a source of) benefit for more than one (person), for it is the common diet of shepherds. Had it been with me, I would have eaten that. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) disliked it

Rapporté par Abu Sa’id : Un homme a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, nous vivons dans une région où il y a beaucoup de lézards. Que nous ordonnes-tu ou quel jugement donnes-tu à ce sujet ? » Il répondit : « On m’a rapporté qu’un peuple parmi les Enfants d’Israël a été transformé (et il est possible que ces gens aient été changés en lézards). » Il ne nous a donc ni ordonné d’en manger, ni interdit d’en manger. Abu Sa’id ajoute : Après quelque temps, Omar a dit : « Allah, le Très-Haut et Majestueux, en a fait une source de bénéfice pour plusieurs personnes, car c’est un aliment courant chez les bergers. Si j’en avais eu, je l’aurais mangé. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ n’aimait pas cela. »
