Sahih Muslim, 4669

It has been reported on the authority of Salama b. Akwa' who said:On the day of the Battle of Khaibar my brother fought a fierce fight by the side of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). His sword rebounded and killed him. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon hill) talked about his death and doubted (whether it was martyrdom). (They said): (He is) a man killed by his own weapon, and expressed doubt about his affair. Salama said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned from Khaibar, I said: Messenger of Allah, permit me that I may recite to you some rajaz verses. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) permitted him. 'Umar b. Khattab said: I know what you will recite. I recited: By God, if God had guided us not, We would hive neither been guided aright nor practised charity, Nor offered prayers. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: What you have said is true, 'I (continued): And descend on us peace and tranquillity And keep us steadfast if we encounter (with our enemies) And the polytheists have rebelled against us. When I finished my rajaz, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Who composed these verses? I said: They were composed by my brother. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: May God show mercy to him! I said: By God, some people are reluctant to invoke God's mercy on him (because) they say he is a man who died by his own sword. (Hearing this) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He died as God's devotee and warrior. Ibn Shihab has said: I asked one of the sons of Salama (b. Akwa') about (the death of 'Amir). He related to me a similar tradition except that he said: When I said some people were reluctant invoke God's blessings on him, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be, upon him said: They lied. ('Amir) died as God's devotee and warrior (in the cause of Allah). For him there is a double reward, and he pointed out this by putting his two fingers together

Rapporté par Salama b. al-Akwa’ رضي الله عنه : Le jour de la bataille de Khaybar, mon frère a combattu courageusement aux côtés du Messager d’Allah ﷺ. Son épée a rebondi et l’a tué. Les compagnons du Messager d’Allah ﷺ ont parlé de sa mort et doutaient qu’il soit martyr. Ils disaient : « C’est un homme tué par sa propre arme », et ils avaient des doutes à son sujet. Salama a dit : Quand le Messager d’Allah ﷺ est revenu de Khaybar, j’ai dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, permets-moi de te réciter quelques vers de rajaz. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ lui a donné la permission. Omar b. Khattab a dit : « Je sais ce que tu vas réciter. » J’ai récité : « Par Allah, si Allah ne nous avait pas guidés, Nous n’aurions ni trouvé la bonne voie, ni fait l’aumône, Ni accompli la prière. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Ce que tu as dit est vrai. » (J’ai continué :) « Fais descendre sur nous la paix et la tranquillité, Et rends-nous fermes face à nos ennemis, Et les polythéistes se sont rebellés contre nous. » Quand j’ai terminé, le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a demandé : « Qui a composé ces vers ? » J’ai répondu : « C’est mon frère. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Qu’Allah lui fasse miséricorde ! » J’ai dit : « Par Allah, certains hésitent à demander la miséricorde d’Allah pour lui, car ils disent qu’il est mort par sa propre épée. » En entendant cela, le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Il est mort en serviteur d’Allah et en combattant. » Ibn Shihab a dit : J’ai demandé à l’un des fils de Salama (b. Akwa’) au sujet de la mort de ‘Amir. Il m’a rapporté une tradition similaire, sauf qu’il a dit : Quand j’ai dit que certains hésitaient à invoquer la bénédiction d’Allah sur lui, le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Ils ont menti. (‘Amir) est mort en serviteur d’Allah et en combattant dans la voie d’Allah. Pour lui, il y a une double récompense. » Et il l’a montré en joignant deux doigts
