Sahih Muslim, 1584

Jubair b. Nufair reported:I went along with Shurahbil b. al-Simt to a village which was situated at a distance of seventeen or eighteen miles, and he said only two rak'ahs of prayer. I said to him (about it) and he said: I saw 'Umar observing two rak'ahs at Dhu'l-Hulaifa and I (too) said to him (about it) and he said: I am doing the same as I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) doing

Rapporté par Jubair ibn Nufair : Je suis allé avec Shurahbil ibn al-Simt dans un village situé à dix-sept ou dix-huit miles, et il n’a prié que deux rak‘as. Je lui ai posé la question et il a dit : « J’ai vu 'Umar faire deux rak‘as à Dhu’l-Hulaifa, et je lui ai aussi posé la question, et il a dit : “Je fais comme j’ai vu le Messager d’Allah ﷺ faire.” »
