Muwatta Malik, 1214

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi and Zayd ibn Aslam from Sulayman ibn Yasar that al-Ahwas died in Syria when his wife had begun her third menstrual period after he had divorced her. Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan wrote and asked Zayd ibn Thabit about that. Zayd wrote to him, "When she began her third period, she was free from him and he was free from her, and he does not inherit from her nor she from him

Soulaiman Ibn Yassar a rapporté que Al-Ahwass fut décédé en Syrie, quand sa femme était à ses menstrues pour la troisième fois, et qu'elle avait été divorcée de lui. Mou'awia Ibn Abi Soufian écrivit à Zaid Ibn Thabet lui demandant à ce sujet. Zaid lui répondit: «Si elle avait déjà ses menstrues pour la troisième fois, ils sont tous deux indépendants l'un de l'autre, et ne sont pas des héritiers par réciprocité»
