Sunan Ibn Majah, 3960

‘Udaisah bint Uhban said:“When ‘Ali bin Abu Talib came to Basrah, he entered upon my father and said: ‘O Abu Muslim, will you not help me against these people?’ He said: ‘Of course.’ So he called a slave woman of his and said: ‘O slave woman, bring me my sword.’ So she brought it, and he unsheathed it a span, and (I saw that) it was made of wood. He said: ‘My close friend and your cousin (ﷺ) advised me, if tribulation (Fitnah) arose among the Muslims, that I should take a sword of wood. If you wish I will go out with you.’ He said: ‘I have no need of you or of your sword.’”

Rapporté par ‘Udaisah bint Uhban : Quand ‘Ali bin Abu Talib est venu à Bassora, il est entré chez mon père et a dit : « Ô Abu Muslim, ne veux-tu pas m’aider contre ces gens ? » Il a répondu : « Bien sûr. » Alors il a appelé une de ses esclaves et lui a dit : « Ô servante, apporte-moi mon épée. » Elle l’a apportée, il l’a dégainée un peu, et j’ai vu qu’elle était en bois. Il a dit : « Mon ami proche et ton cousin (ﷺ) m’a conseillé, si une épreuve surgit parmi les musulmans, de prendre une épée en bois. Si tu veux, je sortirai avec toi. » Il a dit : « Je n’ai pas besoin de toi ni de ton épée. »
